BlackSea Aqua Feed
BlackSea Aqua Feed A.S. is Turkiye’s one of the biggest fish feed manufacturer. The company was founded in 2021 by Turkish salmon trout farmers. The plant is located in Samsun Havza OSB and started production in 2024 with 500MT feed production per day.
The 2024 edition of The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture said global fisheries and aquaculture production in 2022 surged to 223.2 million tones, a 4.4 percent increase from the year 2020.
Since 2019 salmon trout (rainbow trout) production volumes increased exponentially in northern Turkiye. As salmon trout (rainbow trout) aquaculture continues to grow, so does the demand for nutritious and sustainable aquaculture feed. The industry requires large amount of feed. The Blacksea Aqua Feed aims to achieve high nutrition value feed for industry from sustainable raw materials.
Growth and productivity of the aquatic animals greatly rely on the quality of feed given to them. Feed represent a major portion of total costs in fish production. Feed quality is highly dependent on the quality of raw material and the processing technique.
Feeds used in aquaculture contain a variety of ingredients from both plant and marine sources. The two most important marine ingredients in salmon trout (rainbow trout) feed are fishmeal and fish oil. In order to have high quality feed, we use high soluble protein anchovy fish meal and high level Omega3 anchovy fish oil in feed production. The salmon trout (rainbow trout) raised with BlackSea Aqua Feed are excellent source of Omega3 fatty acids for healthy human diets.
It is clear that the environmental impact of aquafeed is heavily dependent on the composition of ingredients in the feed. The BlackSea Aqua Feed quality team works actively to further the development of sustainable fish feed. We ensure high digestibility and also high nutritional value which enhance fish immunity and disease resistance, improve fish health. We produce feeds for all lifecycle stages of salmon trout (rainbow trout) larger than 2-3g growing in fresh and seawater for production systems for our own farms and also domestic customers in Turkiye.
